There's so much to do all over the Isle of Skye and An Iodhlann makes a perfect base for hill walking, mountaineering, water sports and sight seeing. But if you don't feel like travelling around once you arrive and want to take life at a slower pace, there's plenty to see and do within a few miles of the house.

Don't miss the family friendly E.I. pub, just a few minutes walking distance from the house. Live music regularly through the season, bar meals, kids allowed in the bar til 7.30pm

Travelling south the few short miles to Armadale Pier, the views across the Sound of Sleat are not to be missed

Cruard Bay is a few minutes walk from the house, in the opposite direction to the pub. Great for rock pooling, snorkelling and kayaking

Possibly the most scenic park in Scotland is located 7 miles from the cottage at the Clan Donald Centre. Look out for the secret dens kids will love to explore

Isle Ornsay Light House - at low tide you can take a walk over to the island - but check the tide times so you don't get cut off!  The island was the setting for No.1 Best Selling novel, The Ice Twins

A few miles drive (around 7) on the Ord Loop you will find Ord Bay.  Sandy at low tide, stunning views of the Cuillin Mountains and a great picnic and kayaking spot

A visit to the area would not be complete without a photo stop at  the famous Eilean Donan Castle, once featured in a BBC advert

Isle Ornsay Bay is sheltered and calm, ideal for sailing and water sports all year round. Look out for seals, otters, dolphins & Sea Eagles
